Scope of Work: Interior renovation to existing single family home.

Project Narrative: Ryder Design collaborated with interior designer Brigette Romanek to renovate the interior architectural design of this historic estate.

Originally constructed in 1925 and occupied by Harry Houdini, the house burned in the 1950s and was rebuilt shortly thereafter. The home the served as a residence and recording studio for performers like the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Maroon 5.

The homeowners wanted to preserve the complex history encoded in the architecture in the renovation of the interior’s fixtures and finishes.

The project consisted new floors and wall finishes, along with new electrical, mechanical and lighting throughout.

The architectural design was intended to strike a delicate balance between the home’s complex history and the needs of modern living.

The master suite was made more spacious, including this luxe master bath with dramatic marble finishes.
