When a forgotten hot dog stand on the east end of the Ventura Corridor was purchased by a major league pitcher, we were asked to create a neighborhood grill fit for a Sunday football and youth basketball post-game parties. Creating a bar suitable for family fun offered an opportunity to interject a programmatic divide; the insertion of an abstracted dug-out ties the disparate spaces of this unique restaurant together. Other references to baseball include a World Series ring and thousands of baseballs framing the televisions behind the bar. A cantilevered stair out back provides a means of egress from the roof top deck. This deck provides a unique views of the valley and Ventura boulevard.
